Under a triple canopy of transitional design, dext. St Thomas Becket seated in pontificals and wearing the pallium, his right hand raised in blessing, his left hand holding his primatial cross; sin. St Paul seated, holding a sword in his right hand, in his left hand a book. In a small niche above, the Blessed Virgin crowned and seated, supporting her Child on her left knee, ? a book in her right hand. In canopied side niches, a man-at-arms half-length holding obliquely across one shoulder a mace or club, above which, on a bracket, an angel, with wings expanded, at prayer. In base, a shield: the Cross of St George, in dexter chief a sword point uppermost, CITY OF LONDON; supporters: two demi-lions rampant guardant, each under a round-headed arch.
