Roman iron tie
Heavily corroded iron tie, found in situ, which served to secure the Purbeck marble slabs which clad the steps rising from the NW end of the natatio in its original form. The narrow end , forged square, is turned through a right angle, so as to fit into a hole drilled into the bevelled top edge of ten riser-cladding.
