Embroidered sampler. Fine cross-stitch and [other] stitches in silk on fine woollen (?) ground fabric. Stylised floral border, stylised plant (some in vessels) and animal motifs in fine cross-stitch (symmetrically arranged). All surrounding a large central flower motif (tailor's buttonhole stitch) and two rectangles with text. Top: prayer/poem of three verses. Bottom: 'Mary Davies's work Carmarthen August the 10 1624'.
