Teapot and cover
Teapot, hard-paste porcelain, inset base within a flattened-off foot-rim, bulbous ovoid body, short curving spout with foliate moulding around the base, loop handle with foliate moulding and raised thumb-spur, round domed cover with to the top a finial modelled in the form of a flower head with stem and leaves, a pierced steam hole to one side; finely painted in puce with to either side of the exterior body a view of European birds perched on spreading branches, two smaller views of birds to either side of the top of the cover, scattered butterflies around the rest of the exterior body of the teapot, the underside of the spout and the top of the cover, gilt lines around the lip-rim of the teapot and the rim of the cover, the spout and handle picked out in gilt, the finial picked out in puce and gilt.
