Early Medieval human remains
This is the poorly preserved inhumation burial of a Middle Adult (25-45 years) who was probably Female. Her skull is realtively well preserved, but the rest of the skeleton, inlcuding bones from the areas of the thorax, both legs and arms, are in an extremely poor state of preservation.
She was buried in a Flexed position. This is very rare in the Five Mile Lane early medieval cemetery with only around 4% of individual found interred in flexed positions. SK166 was buried partly on her right with her right leg tightly flexed, her right foot inline with her pelvis and her left leg was bent at the hip at 90 degrees.
The burial is from Phase I: 774-1131 AD
Her teeth showed signs of Dental Enamel Hypoplasia, which indicates a period of interrupted growth during childhood.
The burial is associated, by proximity, with SK444
