Woollen canvas, embroidered with coloured silks in cross and satin stitches. At the top, flanked by conventional flowering plants and hearts, is the verse:
"Jesus permit thy Gracious name to stand as the first Effort of an infant hand and While her fingers oer the canvas move Engage her tender heart to seek thy Love with thy dear children let her Share a part and write thy name thyself upon her heart."
In the middle, between two narrow horizontal bands of ornament, there is a dog flanked by baskets of flowers, birds and stags. At the bottom is the verse:
"My God is reconcild (sic) his pardoning voice I hear he owns me for his child i can no longer fear with confidence i now draw nigh and boldly Abba father cry"
Within an oblong compartment of fret pattern, the inscription: "Elizabeth. Thomas finish (sic) this work in her / twelveth (sic) year of our Lord 1824". The space below and alongside the inscriptions is filled with conventional flowering plants and trees, dogs and hearts. There is a border of a wavy stem with flowers.
