Casgliadau Arlein

These are three bones from a pig, the pelvis and one femur were found articulated while the other femur was from the same animal. All three bones have very fine cut marks probably made using flint blades.

The pelvis has oblique cut marks on the dorsal side of the acetabulum and the ventral side of the ilium near the acetabulum, probably made during disarticulation. The complete femur has cut marks on the posterior side in the distal region for disarticulation (a cluster suggests the cutting of a tendon) and numerous cut marks all up the shaft on the anterior and posterior sides at right angles to the shaft, probably for defleshing.

The other, partial, femur has transverse cuts on the posterior side of the distal shaft for meat removal and has been cut across, presumably for marrow removal.
