Amphora, earthenware, in the shape of an ancient Greek amphora, standing on a circular foot with narrow short pedestal, bulbous body, high shoulder, narrow rim, bell mouth, the handles broken off; the decoration reserved against a black enamel ground so that the red earthenware body is revealed, this then transfer-printed in black with to one side of the body a naked warrior-like figure in a plumed helmet fighting two amazons, one on horseback, and to the other side a warrior-like figure holding a plumed helmet standing besides a chariot drawn by four horses, elongated egg and dart border below each scene, a scroll patterned border to the shoulder border to the shoulder, a wave patterned border to the interior lip-rim.
