Pot-lid, earthenware, circular shape with cylindrical flange and convex top; the upperside of the lid decorated with an underglaze polychrome transfer-print of 'The Rivals', showing an interior scene with a seated female figure, a seated male figure in military uniform, and a standing male figure with a cat at his feet, around the bottom of the scene is the inscription "THE RIVALS", the print enclosed by a narrow circular beige border.
