THRESHING MACHINE, early 20th c. portable, with 4 wooden wheels, cast iron hubs. The front wheels tyred, rear - straked. Stamped Manufactured by Ruston Proctor & Co., Engineers, Lincoln, No.2036. Note that it has a 3'6" drum, complete with belting & set of spare screens. Originally used by Capt. Best, Llangollen & then by David Davies, Glasfryn. Size: L. 14 ft. width 7 ft Ht. 9 ft. [accession / catalogue card] Description of Parts 1) Drawbar of unpainted iron. Possibly original. See AC.2008.0246. Length = 1485mm, Width = 550mm, Height = 65mm 2) Drawbar pin in two parts. Iron rod with a slot through it at one end and a shaped iron plate welded to the other. Two strips of iron welded together at one end on a ring with a short length of chain attached. The two stirps of iron pass through the slot in the end of the bar to stop it coming out of position. Painted orange. Possibly original. See AC.2008.0245. Length = 690mm (of rod), Width = 113mm (max, of rod). 3) A large panel with two hinges on one side and three holes, two with square metal surrounds, along the other side. Fits on side of machine along the top to make the floor of the working platform and matches a board that remains hinged to the top of the machine. Painted orange. Reproduction part. See AC.2008.0225, .0226. Length = 2500mm, Width = 615mm or 660mm including hinges. 4 - 5) Two long boards each with two iron pegs projecting from one side. The pegs fit into the holes in the board above and the matching board attached to the top of the thrasher. These boards form the sides of the working platform. Painted oranged. Reproduction parts. See AC.2008.0224, .0227. Length = 2500mm, Width = 400mm or 485mm including pegs. 6 - 7) Two long boards. These boards form the ends of the working platform. Painted oranged. Reproduction parts. Length = 2880mm, Width = 400. 8 - 9) Two iron rods bent and splayed before both ends that fit into holes in the side of the thrasher and the hinged panels that extend from the top of the thrasher to support the working platform. Painted orange. Possibly original parts. See AC.2008.0242. Length = 1180mm, Diameter = 16mm min, 27mm max. 10 - 11) Two large screens with wooden frames and two iron tie bars spanning width of frame. One screen has a large mesh size the other a medium mesh size. Painted orange. Possibly original parts. See AC.2008.0228, .0229. Length = 680mm, Width = 405mm 12 - 13) Two medium sized screens with wooden frames and one iron tie bar spanning the width of the frame. One screen has a large mesh size the other a medium mesh size. Length = 1115mm, Width = 82mm 19) Plank with one bevelled and one rounded long edge. Four holes in bevelled edge and down sides. A rectangle has been cut out of the rounded edge about half way down and covered with canvas. Painted orange. Reproduction part. See AC.2008.0240, .0241. Length = 335mm, Width = 245mm, Hole is 16mm / 5/8ths of an inch square. 23 - 39) Sixteen parts found during clearance of Atcost with no identifictaition (no numbers/no labels) but thought to be original parts of this object retained after the restoration.
