Doll
Large wooden doll, late 18th century. With blue and white brocaded silk dress and white lace trimmed apron, brocaded pink silk hooped underskirt, two thick white damask petticoats, knitted knee-length white stockings held in place by knitted white ribbon. The doll is wearing green silk damask shoes with black silk ribbon binding, metal buckles and leather soles. Inside of shoes lined with white canvas. Hoops of underskirt made from four rings. Triangular top part of apron is pinned to dress. Blue silk ribbon bow is pinned to the upper chest. The same blue ribbon is tied around the neck. The dress is lined with thin light blue cotton tabby fabric. The dress is trimmed around the neck, underarm and cuffs with blue silk satin. Neck and cuffs trimmed with ruffs of white lace (different types). Doll wears linen canvas stomacher with yellow silk tape edging and pink silk lining.
The doll has pupil-less, black glass eyes. The real hair is short and brown and is glued to the pate. The head and upper body are painted yellow, with features in red and brown. The doll has pink leather arms and hands. The legs are jointed at the thighs and knees.
