The prominent railway viaduct in the middle distance is Beaufort Viaduct on the Dowlais to Abergavenny line. Closer and below is the smaller Rhyd Viaduct on the former LMS Ebbw Vale Branch which joined the larger line at Ebbw Vale Junction Signal Box, visible at the junction. Right (east) of Beaufort Viaduct is Beaufort Sanitary Pipe & Brick Works and beyond (north) is Carno Reservoir.
