The first ship to enter Newport Docks after a four month closure due to the urgent reconstruction of the damaged lock entrance. The Liberian registered ore carrier M.V. PROMETHEUS was importing a 9000 ton cargo of bauxite ore from Toulon. The date 4 December 1970 was three days ahead of the official target date.
