Roman samian bowl, decorated
The ovolo is small and double bordered, with a slender tongue ending in a small bead. There is a wavy line above, but not beneath, the ovolo. Part of the figure of a man facing right survives on one sherd. The figure type is O.70A and occurs on another published DR. 30 from Usk, stamped MARTIALS.F. The bowl from Mainz illustrated in Knorr 1952, Taf. 67, B is similar, and there are further parallels from Verulamium and Brockley Hill, Middlesex.
