William (Billy) Spiller was a great Welsh sportsman. He played rugby for Cardiff (184 games 1905-6 to 1913-14; captain 1912-13) and he also played for Pontypridd; Barry; Glamorgan Police; Glamorgan County. He won 10 caps at centre for Wales 1910-1913. Hist first cap was against Scotland at Cardiff 5 February 1910. Wales won 14-0 (Spiller scored a try on his debut). As well as rugby, he played cricket, with 13 First Class games for Glamorgan 1921-1923 and was the first Glamorgan player to score a First Class century in 1921. He also played bowls for Glamorgan.
