White cotton pique stock (neck tie). Made from white cotton fabric with weave resulting in narrow ribs (7 per 1cm). Tie is wide at the ends and narrows in the centre where it fits round neck; it is made from 3 sections with each section consisting of two pieces of fabric stitched back-to-back. 1st section = 62.5cm long and machine-stitched to neck section; 2nd (neck) section = 34cm long; 3rd section = 67cm long; 3rd section is joined to neck section by stitch-securing only the corners, leaving a gap in the middle through which the other end would be drawn when fitting the tie. The 2nd (neck) section is slightly curved to follow the curve of the neck; there is a 1.5cm long machine-stitched buttonhole near the point of the curve. At a distance of 20cm away from the buttonhole, there is a hand-stitched loop which is attached to the edge of the 1st section, 3cm below the seam joining it to the neck section. The tie is abraded along the neck to the extent that it had to be darned at two points along the edge.
