Cap
Small, close fitting cap made in three sections with a crown and a square shaped brim, which is made in two sections with seams at the front and back. It is made from dark grey woven wool which has been treated to give a raised, felty surface. The edges of the brim and seams of the brim sections are trimmed with thin red wool piping. The cap is lined with an un-dyed cellulosic (probably linen), plain woven fabric. The crown is gathered into the brim and hand sewn with black cotton thread, using over stitches. The brim is constructed by machine in running stitch, a cream of white thread is used on top but a dark blue or black thread is used on the inside. Machine embroidered details are also stitched into the brim using the same threads, the motifs are thin lines with curled ends which follow the lines of the brim.
