Woollen canvas ground, embroidered with coloured silks in cross stitch. At top: in six rows, Roman, Gothic and Italic alphabets, the last repeated. Below: numerals 1 to 10, followed by maker's name and various detached motifs including a woman spinning; two crowned figures flanking tree on which are three birds; two female figures in Dutch costume, denoted a and e, carrying between them a bunch of grapes; a monstrance between two candlesticks each with three candles; the sacred monogram IHS beneath a cross; flowering plants; crowns; peacock and stag. In bottom left hand corner: below date, man with a spade, a dog on a leash and four sheep within a field.
