Collection of slides forming lecture "Rails in the Slate Industry" by D.R. Geering, UMIST 3rd year Mechanical Engineering Projects, c.1975 (copy of lecture notes in related material).
The train is returning to the mill with a load of hay in the last wagon. The hay was used in packing the slates for transit, to prevent damage.
