Spindle whorl made from the head of a femur. The type goes back into the pre-Roman Iron Age.
NMB. This object is naturally dome shaped, the top has no sign of deliberate cutting. The bottom has the remains of a flattened edge, though the rest has broken away. Although it has a centrally (drilled?) hole it would be unlikely that it could act as a spindle whorl as it is not very heavy and wouldnot spin evenly? Perhaps a large counter or bead is more likely?
