A large fragment of ceramic brick.
This object has an unusual void in the centre. The void is long and cylindrical, the fragment has split along the void. The void runs through about 80% of the object, but doesn't go all the way out the other side.
The clay is highly fired and must have been fired with an object, probably organic, stuck in the middle.
Perhaps the craftsperson dropped their stiring stick into the mix and accidentally fire it?
