Robe worn by Joseph Larke Wheatley, Town Clerk of Cardiff from 1882 to 1903. Wheatley was the first Town Clerk of Cardiff to wear a civic robe and hat, and wore them upon all public occasions.

Robe of pure armoyine silk with black silk cape, facings and wings, and fully trimmed with lace and silk tufts.
