Hinged Strip Bow brooch. The bow and catchplate only survive. The brooch has a hightly arched continuous curve and tapers from a wider head to a knife edged foot. The bow is cast; it is of roughly rectangular cross section and, where its surface survives, it carries a band of tooled ornament, between incised lines, running down its centre. The brooch is of the hinged Strip Bow type discussed by Hattatt. The type is native to the south west of England and is thought to have been current from before the Conquest into the Neronian period.
