Roman samian bowl
10 samian bowl sherds, form Dr37. Some of the sherds are conjoining or from the same vessels. S118 and S120 are conjoining and S121 is from the same vessel. Deep pink ware with a fairly glossy red slip. Quite clear moulding, triple leaf basal wreath, undulating scroll with arrowheads, fringed medallion and leaf. S119 and S122 are conjoining and only traces of the basal wreath survive. S124 and S125 are conjoining, and possibly from the same bowl as S118 above. Good, deep pink ware with a matt red slip. Very poor moulding. A large winding scroll. Small ovolo with large rosette and gladiators in lower corner. S123. Hard pink ware, glossy red slip and good moulding. Small ovolo, corded tongue with triangular tassel tip. No border. Below a large bunch of grapes and winding stalk. S126. Orange fabric, glossy orange slip and quite good moulding. The panels contain the legs of Perseus (O.234), and the dolphin and basket motif. AD 100-120.
