Early Medieval human remains
This is these are the well preserved remains (over 75%) of a Younger Middle Adult (25-35 years) who was Female. She was buried in an extended supine position in a simple grave oriented Northwest-Southeast.
The burial is from Phase M: 995-1122 AD
Her ilium (part of the pelvis) had an osteophyte growth which is a calcified growth that occurs around a joint caused by heavy wear or injury.
Her teeth showed signs of having periodontal disease, caries and calculus, all pointing to poor oral hygiene and potentially a sugary high carbohydrate diet. Her teeth also exhibited Dental Enamel Hypolasia, which are marks caused by interruptions in growth during childhood.
The burial is associated by proximity with SK148
