Roman building stone
The face of the stone is incised with three symbols. At the centre are three interconnecting lines forming a star pattern, the significance of which is not apparent. The curious motif to the left presumably represents a galerus of a retiarius as on no.37; while the incised ladder-like shape, on the right-hand side of the stone, may depict a portion of laminar armour as worn by a myrmillo.
