Hinged T-shaped brooch with wide head with appendages. There is a large cross-bar accomodating the pivot; it is decorated, on the front only, with six sets of triple longitudinal mouldings, separated by fluted mouldings. The bow tapers sharply from its wide head to either side of which are moulded appendages which are carried part way down the bow. The head and upper part of the bow are decorated with the skeuomorph of a chord hook which consists of a moulded elongated V-shaped tongue of bronze, stepped at the head and divided by a longitudinal indented line below the two steps. The lower part of the bow is lost. The back of the bow is flat. The brooch presents a silvered appearance and examination in the conservation lab suggests it was made of base silver.
