Casgliadau Arlein

Baggage label with perforated hole near the left hand edge, and inscribed with a sharp point on both sides. The writing on the one side is inverted with respect to the other so that the hole remains on the left. The tag was evidently attached to a package or bundle (sarcina) and records the package number (probably corresponding to a serial number on a separate check-list) weight in pounds, value in denarii, indicated by the sign 'X' and presumably the contents.
