Dish, soft-paste porcelain, octagonal shape with inset base, deep curving sides and spreading rim, the rim indented at the corners; painted in underglaze blue and red, pink and green with, to the centre of the well, a Chinese-style scene showing to one side a figure standing in a boat overhung by a spreading spray of flowers, and to the other side a domed oriental building, birds swim on an expanse of water and another bird is in flight above the scene, the scene enclosed by a circular border with elaborate scrolled motifs, border to the rim of diagonal panels alternating between a plain blue ground and a pattern of concentric circles, issuing sprigs of flowers and foliage, border to the outer rim of gilt lattice-work designs on a red ground, a gilt edge to the outer rim.
