Slender socketed axe with double mouth moulding. Top of collar pronounced, then tapering with a concave curve to lower horizontal rib moulding. From this, three, slightly divergent but close set, longitudinal ribs extend roughly half way down blade. Ribs are gently curved rather than prominent. Trimmed loop projects from lower rib mouth moulding. Both external and internal socket mouth shapes are sub-rectangular. No runner scars visible on mouth top. Sides of axe are moderately concave, splaying slightly towards blade end. The face edges are markedly rounded, giving a curved rectangular cross section at mid-point along axe. Casting seams visible down both sides, but worked down. Flashes around loop have been removed. Blade end of axe entirely absent, with some evidence of denting on surface above breakpoint, indicating deliberate breakage. Green patina with patches of dark grey/black patina on upper faces and mouth (tenorite).
