A heavily corroded iron object broken into two conjoining pieces. Overal they fragments appear as amorphous lumps of corroded material. At the break point a section of the original object is visible. It is the splayed out end of a hollow shaft 35mm in diameter (slightly distorted to an oval cros-section, but presumably originally circular) with an internal diameter of 20m. The shaft is broken approximately 35mm from the end, showing that it tapers to c.25mm with an internal diameter of c.15mm. The shaft continues to taper from the break and then terminates at c.27mm from the break. There may be at least one more iron object embedded in the corrosion. These fragments were not x-rayed.

Nodiadau: Excavations undertaken during the summers of 2019, 2021 and 2022 at Porth-y-Rhaw coastal promontory fort, Solva, Pembrokeshire (SAM PE-273), revealing occupation and finds of Iron Age and Romano-British date. The project was funded by Cadw, the Nineveh Charitable Trust, Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority and The National Trust. The entire archive for this excavation was created and stored in digital format and is not held by Amgueddfa Cymru - Museum Wales.
