The ampulla is fragmentary and is represented by the body and a portion of the neck (with a surviving length of 55.6mm and a weight of 40.3g) little of the mouth survives (with a surviving width of 6.2mm) but the surviving portion is closed. The neck has a straight side (23.6mm wide and 8.3mm thick). Stubs from the side loops begin 2.6mm above the body and have a length of 13.6mm (5.6mm internal). The body has a maximum width of 37.5mm and a thickness of 8.6mm. The obverse face is convex and is decorated with the scallop motif, representing the emblem of pilgrimage, and has six surviving bold and curved ribs, producing a corrugated effect, of Spencer (1990, p59), Type I. The ribs are wider at the base and narrow towards the neck. The reverse face is flat and plain with a bevelled edge.
