Photograph captioned 'Porth-gain Harbour Installations. The ruins of a remarkable harbour and its installations about six miles north-east of St. David's Head, on the west coast of Pembrokeshire. The Porth-gain stone quarries were opened during the 19th Century, they were close to the edge of the cliffs and it was inevitable that they should depend on ships to transport the stone which they produced. The stone, after crushing, was charged into high hoppers from which it was loaded directly into the ships. Here is a frontal view from the sea.' Mounted on card. Made for the exhibition RECORDING WALES 3 in 1970/1971.
