This long rectangular stone has been worn and chipped through use as a hammer or an adze. The elongated flat cobble has been splintered at either end, with large flakes removed from across most of one face. Whilst best described as a hammer, this may perhaps have had some sort of axe or adze-like function.
It is possibly mesolithic.

Nodiadau: Excavations undertaken during the summers of 2019, 2021 and 2022 at Porth-y-Rhaw coastal promontory fort, Solva, Pembrokeshire (SAM PE-273), revealing occupation and finds of Iron Age and Romano-British date. The project was funded by Cadw, the Nineveh Charitable Trust, Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority and The National Trust. The entire archive for this excavation was created and stored in digital format and is not held by Amgueddfa Cymru - Museum Wales.
