Early Medieval human remains
These are remains from the Inhumation burial of a Younger Middle Adult (25-35 years) who was probably Female.
She was buried in an extended supine position with slightly flexed knees in a simple grave oriented West-East Her teeth shoed signs of Calculus, Caries, and Dental Enamel Hypoplasia.
The burial is from Phase D: 436-772 AD
The burial is associated, by proximity, with SK140, SK141 and SK142
A small amount of flint debitage was recovered from within the grave fill, just over the individual's teeth. This may be a deliberate grave good, or it may have just been mixed accidentally in the soil. The nature of the Five Mile Lane being reused so heavily in different eras led to a lot of material getting disturbed and moved over the ages.
