An incomplete inhumation of an adult male aged c.45-55 years (extended, supine) in a plain grave oriented southwest-northeast. The skeleton is missing part of the skull, right arm, and vertebrae displacement indicates disturbance from later grave digging. Additional elements of a different age at death indicate an intrusion.
Elements represented: Cranium, vertebrae, few ribs, unsided scapula, unsided clavicle, L humerus fragments, L radius, L ulna, pelvis, L and R femur, R fibula, L patella, sacrum fragments, metacarpals, carpals, metatarsals, tarsals, L calcaneus, L talus, phalanges (pathology: some with osteoarthritis).
Intrusion: Deciduous teeth and unfused juvenile bones, presumably from disturbance.
Animal bone, Roman pottery, an iron nail, burial pebble, and a 1st century Polden Hill brooch were found in the grave.
Enw'r Safle: Great House Farm, Llandough
