These are moderately preserved remains from the inhumation burial of a perinatal child (30-48 weeks)
The burial is from Phase J: 774-1115 AD
They were buried in a supine position in a simple grave oriented North-South A N-S orientation is very rare in the Early Medieval with only 2.1% of Five Mile Lane cemetery burials in this alignment. Of the 8 N-S aligned burials, only 2 are adults (both female), the other 6 are children like this very young perinatal baby.
The burial is associated, by proximity, to SK105, SK107, SK119, SK137. All of these skeletons are infants, many buried in the same odd orientation. SK101: N-S, infant (phase J) SK105: N-S, infant (phase H) SK107: N-S, child (phase I) SK119: SW-NE, child (phase G) SK137, W-E, infant (phase D)
Enw'r Safle: Five Mile Lane, Vale of Glamorgan
