The ampulla is incomplete, missing the neck (with a surviving length of 39.3mm and a weight of 39.8g containing some sediment). The body is partially open below the neck and has a maximum width of 38.6mm and a thickness of 9.6mm. A small portion of the lower neck is present (with a width of 24.4mm), one of the loop stubs represented. The obverse face is convex and is decorated with the scallop motif, representing the emblem of pilgrimage, and has seven bold and curved ribs, producing a corrugated effect, of Spencer (1990, p59), Type I. The ribs are slightly wider at the base and narrow towards the neck. The reverse face is flat and plain with a bevelled edge. Casting flashes are evident along the edge.
