This video was originally produced in 1982, just after Big Pit closed as a working mine and just before it opened as a museum. Intended as a short introduction to the mine complex before visitors took the underground tour, it contains views of the lamproom, the pit top and winding enginehouse, various coal faces and pit pony stables, the pithead baths and surface workshops.
