1 folded and torn CuA possible rim fragment. The rim edge, though now torn and irregular in shape, has a folded over semi-circular ‘tab’, an integral extension of the sheet, rather than a separate component. This may have been used to guide or fit a rim-strengthener around the top of the rim. Slight, yet distinct curvature of the sheet along the edge margin, together with a differential corrosion strip of 10-11.0mm below and parallel with the rim, support the idea of this being a rim, rather than a sheet edge. The absence of any rivet holes along this long edge also corroborates this interpretation. The form and character of this possible rim fragment would tend to favour a globular vessel without a brim or corrugated neck. This would exclude the Atlantic Class A&B cauldrons and the bucket forms of the later Bronze Age, leaving the possibilities of Early Iron Age or Late Iron Age to Romano-British forms. However, this fragment cannot be regarded as highly diagnostic on its own.
