Amgueddfa Cymru
A single fragment comprising approximately 27 per cent of an upper stone which has a thickness of 76 mm. at the circumference, and an estimated diameter of 0.355m. A narrow margin circumscribes the upper surface, and confines a spacious, slightly convex hopper, which has an estimated diameter of 0.265m.; the thickness of the stone contracts to a mere 28 mm. at the bottom of the hopper, where part of a single lozenge-shaped rynd-chase, together with a small portion of a circular eye, with an estimated diameter of c. 90 mm., survives intact. The upper surface has been carefully dressed with pock-marks, but the slightly convex outward-splaying sides are finished with thin and irregular vertical striae. However, the depressed convex grinding face is also dressed with pocking, and the maximum wear has occurred about the skirt, where, notwithstanding the two deep concentric striae etched upon the surface, the stone presents a smooth and highly polished gloss. The fragmemt has suffered some rough treatment in the course of its working life, chipped about the circumference and the skirt. Furthermore, a thin hairline crack runs from the hopper-rim down towards the rynd-chase.
