Bone tool made from a longitudinally split sheep/goat metapodial. The thickness of the tool has been kept deliberately small along the entire length and the remaining articulation has also been shaved down to make the implement flatter. This terminal has been perforated for suspension or attachement of string/binding. The shaft of the tool is straight and slender, tapering to a slightly rounded edge with wear facets on both faces. The flattened form of this 'needle' might suggest a role in coil basketry.
