Brynoer Tramroad, showing two tramplates (also shown in /55 and /56) and a dovetailed cast iron sill, immediately after excavation, approx. one mile south of Talybont. These components are of the type illustrated in J.van Laun “Early limestone railways” (London, 2001), figs 103 and 104, p.142, save that the tramplates are uninscribed and have plain rather than convex/concave ends. The pair of tramplates illustrated in /55 and /56 are accessioned as 2014.16/1 and /2. The sill is accessioned as /4. The donor also found a second (intact) sill which is accessioned as /3. On p.141 van Laun discusses the gauge of this tramroad: when reassembled, these components 3ft 2½in between flanges which is midway between the two figures of 3ft 3¼in and 3ft 4½in discussed by van Laun.
