Figure of Robert Burns, white earthenware with a crackle glaze, on an oval base inscribed in gilt script. Figure in black shoes, yellow stockings with blue gaiters, orange breeches, underglaze blue jacket, green waistcoat outlined in purple, white shirt, long red, green and white plaid wrapped across body from left shoulder, brown neck tie, face naturalistically painted, brown hair; standing with legs crossed at knee, leaning against a white brick wall (on right), holding a dark red book (broken off) in his left hand, right elbow resting on wall. Top of wall covered in pink fringed red cloth, a number of rust and black coloured farming implements against the wall (scythe, fork, spade etc - arrangement not the same in Pugh's illustration)
