Upon the waves of the sea, in which are four fishes, a single-masted ship of comtemporary type with square mainsail, temnporary fore- and stern-castles set upon the tall stern and stern-posts, and an embattled crow’s nest. Steered by a quarter- rudder slung over the star-board side. In the boat are two marines, one furling the mainsail, the other seated by the stern-castle. The mast carries a flag bearing arms: three demi-lions in pale (? for ST GEORGE). The lance-flags on the posts bear arms also: dext. Two chevrons (on fine impressions), sin. indistinct. Above the mainsail, to either side of the mast, dext. A crescent, sin. A roundle enclosing a star or sun of eight rays
