Roman samian bowl, decorated
Ovolo with three-pronged tongue-terminal. Panel decoration, demarcated by coarse wavy lines terminating in rosettes. Sessile corner tendrils (cf.O. & P. xvi, 1, Bregenz Cellar-Find). (1) Dog running to l. Thid dog occurs in the Bregenz cellar-Find (O. & P. xvi, 1) and in the work of PVDENS (K.1919,68) and FLAVIVS GERMANVS (K.1919, Text-fig.20). (2) Dianaand the small hind (D.63 and 63a). (3) Cruciform ornament. (4) Victory with palm and wreath (D.481). (5) Silenus (D.323) (6) Straight trefoil wreath forms a lower border to the design. poor glaze ; rather coarse workmanship.
