A very thick plain wall sherd but probably from a vessel of relatively small diameter. The inner section of the sherd is partly spalled away.
Traces of vertical finger smearing on the exterior surface are typical of Late Bronze Age pottery.
Includes fragments of sediment removed from the sherd. They looked like part of the sherd during excavation in the challenging wet muddy coastal conditions, but were separate during post-excavation. Inside the bag they look like pot fragments, but when taken out they appear a much lighter colour from the pot sherd.
Enw'r Safle: Peterstone, Peterstone Wentloog
Nodiadau: Recovered from beside the Late Bronze Age/Early Iron Age fish trap in Trench C.
