Five-ribbed socketed axe with thin outsplayed mouth moulding, from which a high placed loop (now broken) extends. Five equally spaced longitudinal and parallel ribs extend from mouth moulding down blade faces. The two outermost ribs on each face emphasise the angles of a hexagonal sectioned body. Both external and internal socket mouth shapes are sub-rectangular, whilst four runners are visible on mouth top. Even socket base. Sides of axe slightly divergent, to form an expanded cutting edge with slight recurving of the sides. Blunted casting scars visible down sides of axe. Crescentic cutting edge damaged for 16mm along loop side, probably modern corrosion/damage. Slight bevel along blade edge suggests sharpening of blade but no striations visible. Blade edge has moderately crescentic shape and recurving of sides. Upper surfaces between ribs and down loop side has black patina or coating (tenorite). Rest of axe has green patina.
