Coat-type smock of bleached linen, embroidered with linen thread. Worn by James Young, a farmer in the Atch Lench district, near Evessham, during the 1830s.
Small round collar, with eight bone button fly-front fastening. Two button opening at cuffs. One pocket. The smocking is done in outline, cable and wave. The emboidery design consists of vertical linear designs in feather and french knots in the boxes, floral motifs in feather on the yokes, and wave pattern in feather with french knots on the collar. The smock if very worn, pacthed and darned.
