Ekco SH25 radio in phenolic plastic case, 1932.
This description refers to the textile elements of the radio. The wooden board which constitutes the back of the radio has a number of (deliberate) holes: four large, central ones with Ø 6.5cm and 2 sets of four smaller holes on either side with Ø 2.5cm). These holes are covered up with three fabric patches that are adhered to the inside of the board. The fabric is constructed from dark brown cotton threads that run in the vertical direction and copper-coloured bundles of synthetic fibre that run horizontally. The S-spun cotton threads are used as pairs which criss-cross over each other and the horizontal yarns intersect them in a complex pattern.
